Even many locals don't know that right in the metro Atlanta area there is one of the most diverse refugee communities in the city of Clarkston. Global Village Project, a nonprofit organization founded in 2009, created a special purpose school for middle school-aged girl refugees who’ve had an interruption in their schooling.

Dahlonega boasts some fantastic wineries, all of them with phenomenal mountain views. Tastings are pretty affordable, and you can buy additional glasses (or bottles) of wine afterwards. Just be sure to bring a DD or opt for proper transportation as you hop from winery to winery.
